Sid Meier’s Pirates! Coming to XBox

2K Games has purchased the publishing rights to not only the PC version of Sid Meier’s Pirates!, but also a forthoming X-Box version, in a joint release by Take Two Interactive and FIRAXIS. This builds on a prior joint venture between the two, as 2K Games will begin releasing the back catalog of titles from the Civilization franchise.

“Pirates! for the Xbox brings the re-imagination of our legacy brand to new audiences in new ways, said Sid Meier, Director of Creative Development at FIRAXIS Games. I think Xbox gamers will be pleased with some of the assets and experiences we’ve been able to add because of special opportunities the platform offers.”

The X-Box version of Pirates! will support X-Box Live leaderboards and content download, 5.1 Dolby Digital sound, and offer console-exclusive mini-games designed for 2-4 players.

No release date has been set.
